Who We Are
IWP Concepts is produced by the Investing With Purpose team, a group of three practising finance professionals with more than 40 years of combined experience across investment banking, asset and wealth management, private equity, corporate finance, and capital markets. All three hold executive roles at an investment bank and at asset management firms.
Between us we have managed hundreds of millions of dollars in client assets and private equity capital, built and reviewed more than 500 financial models and valuations across every major methodology, and advised high-net-worth individuals and companies spanning most major industries and global jurisdictions. One team member is a CFA charterholder (charter held since 2019); two hold master's degrees in finance from highly regarded universities, including the London School of Economics.
We write under the Investing With Purpose byline rather than individual names. Because all three of us hold active, regulated positions at financial institutions, publishing under our own names would create professional and compliance conflicts. Anonymity here is a deliberate, disclosed choice, not a way to avoid accountability: the credentials, process, and sourcing on this page are what stand behind every article, and we correct our work openly when we get something wrong.
Our Expertise
Our combined background spans the buy side and the sell side. Specialisms across the team include investment banking and capital raising, portfolio, asset, and wealth management, private equity and valuation, corporate finance and executive financial management, private banking and client relations, and trading across equities, fixed income, and derivatives. We also work in risk management, technical and fundamental analysis, and the creation, structuring, and management of investment funds.
That range matters for an education publication: the person explaining a discounted cash flow has built them for live transactions, the person explaining a derivatives payoff has traded the instrument, and the person explaining client reporting has produced it under real regulatory regimes. We are familiar with reporting standards and regulatory frameworks across multiple global jurisdictions, and we write each concept from the perspective of someone who has used it in practice.
How We Write
Every concept article follows the same editorial process. We define the concept in plain language, explain the underlying mechanics, work through a numerical example where one helps, flag the mistakes investors most often make, and answer the questions readers actually search for. Each article closes with primary sources so a reader can verify every claim independently.
Drafts are reviewed for technical accuracy by a team member with direct professional experience in the relevant area before publication. We favour precision over jargon: where a term has a specific regulatory or market meaning, we use it correctly and define it. Where reasonable practitioners disagree, we say so rather than presenting one view as settled fact.
Our Sources
Articles cite primary sources: peer-reviewed and academic research, regulatory filings and rulebooks, central bank and government publications, exchange documentation, and data from established financial institutions. We prefer original sources over secondary summaries, and we link directly to them.
Source URLs appear at the bottom of every concept article so readers can check the original material for themselves. When a claim rests on a specific dataset, standard, or rule, we point to the document that defines it.
Editorial Independence
Investing With Purpose has no advertising relationships, affiliate arrangements, or sponsored content. No third party pays to influence what we cover or how we cover it, and no article is written to promote a product, platform, or security. The publication is funded independently, and editorial decisions are made solely by the research team.
Accuracy and Corrections
We aim to be correct and current. Markets, regulations, and data change, and so we revise articles as the underlying facts move. If you find an error, tell us. We correct factual errors promptly, and when a correction is material we note it clearly at the top of the affected article so the record is transparent.
What This Is, and Is Not
IWP Concepts is investment research and financial education. It is not investment advice, a personal recommendation, or a solicitation to buy or sell any security, and nothing on the site is tailored to your circumstances. Investing With Purpose is not a registered investment adviser. Always consider your own situation and consult a licensed professional before making investment decisions.
